Hello! My name is Raquel Almeida Viotti. I am a Christian Counselor whose life and professional journey has been dedicated to helping others achieve emotional health. Born and raised in Brazil, I carry the warmth and resilience of my roots, while also being able to communicate fluently in English, at a native-speaking level, allowing me to connect with a global clientele.

My passion for helping individuals and families thrive dates back over 17 years of counseling experience. I am dually certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Even tough both my accreditations were issued in Brazil, where I finished my studies and reside, I am able to work with clients from many different countries.

 

On a more technical level, my practice is deeply influenced by Murray Bowen's family systems theory, with strong connections and insights drawn from Salvador Minuchin's work. I truly believe in the power of relationships and the potential of the family context to foster healing and growth.

 

My academic and professional journey has led me down inspiring paths:

• 2002-2003: I began my foundational studies in the United States, earning my degree in Practical Theology from the esteemed Christ For The Nations in Dallas, TX. This foundation provided me with a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the spiritual dimension and faith, which I integrate with respect and sensitivity into my practice when relevant to the client.

• 2004-2008: I returned to Brazil to deepen my psychological studies, graduating in Professional Counseling from in Rio de Janeiro.

• 2008-2010: To complement my systemic approach, I specialized in Marriage and Family Therapy at Água Viva Institute, also in Rio de Janeiro, solidifying my expertise in family and marital dynamics. 

• 2011: I had a transformative experience as a missionary at Casa Cielo Orphanage in La Ceiba, Honduras. This period broadened my understanding of human resilience and the importance of community and family support in challenging contexts, enriching my ability to welcome and comprehend diverse realities.

• 2017: I further advanced my expertise with Advanced Studies in Christian Counseling at Christ For The Nations in Dallas, TX, deepening my ability to provide spiritually integrated care.

 

On a personal note, I am married to Daniel Viotti, and we have a wonderful 4-year-old son who brightens my days and constantly reminds me of the beauty and challenges of family dynamics. This personal experience, combined with my professional training and background, allows me to approach everyday issues with empathy and realism.
